Bio

Maya Kabat received a Master of Fine Arts from the University of California, Davis, in 2000. Notable exhibitions include a solo show at the Caffe Museo at SFMOMA in 2012, and a two-person exhibition at 5 Claude Lane Gallery in San Francisco, California, which was reviewed in Art LTD. Magazine in September 2011. She was a founding member of the artist-run space, Mercury Twenty Gallery, in Oakland, California, and served as president on the Oakland Art Murmur Board of Directors in 2011-2012. In August 2016, she attended the London Intensive, a residency sponsored by the Camden Arts Centre in London, England, which culminated in a group exhibition at the Camden Art Centre. In 2018 she attended the Sam and Adele Golden Foundation Artist Residency in New Berlin, New York and in 2022 she attended the Gambrell Gallery Artist Residency in Ashland, OR. This May she is having her first solo exhibition at Vielmetter Gallery, Los Angeles.

Notable public collections include Kaiser Permanente, Oakland, CA; Cisco Systems, Palo Alto, CA, Stanford Hospitals, Palo Alto, CA, and The Neiman Marcus Collection, Short Hills, NJ, and St. Louis, MO. In 2018 she completed a large commission for the Kaiser Center Building in Oakland, CA that was permanently installed in the main lobby. In 2021 she completed her largest commission to date for the lobby of the newly constructed Kaiser Permanente Medical Offices in Berkeley, CA.

She is represented by SLATE Contemporary, Oakland, CA, Brenda Taylor Gallery, Boston, MA and Cura Contemporary in Morgan Hill, CA. Work is also available through Vielmetter Gallery, Los Angeles and Clark Gallery, Lincoln, MA.
